    Vtg Royal Worcester Seated Fox Figurine English Bone China Doris Lindner 2993
    DESCRIPTION
    Vintage 1940's seated red fox figurine by Royal Worcester, England. Designed in the 1930s by Doris Lindner (1896-1979) this fine bone china figurine depicts a seated red fox looking intently at the viewer. This particular piece was made in 1941 as it has the nine dots either side of three circles in a puce colored stamp.
    Signed on the base: Bone China Royal Worcester Made In England 2993
    This would make a great addition to any Royal Worcester, fox, animal or Doris Lindner collection or a great house warming gift.
    Doris Lindner was born in Llanyre in Radnorshire, South Wales in 1896. She studied
    sculpture at St Martin’s School of Art in London, the British Academy in Rome and at
    Calderon’s Animal School in London. In the 1920s her Abstract sculpture and Art Deco models were noticed by the managing director of Royal Worcester,Joseph Gimson. After doing some trial models she joined their staff, exhibiting alongside other female freelance modellers Gwendoline Parnell, Stella Crofts, Freda Doughty, Ethelwyn Baker at the 1931 exhibition held at the Beaux Arts Gallery in
    London.
    Doris Lindner’s first models for Royal Worcester were of dogs, other small animals and Art Deco figure studies, followed by a series of zoo babies. In 1935 she started a number of horse group models that proved very successful including ‘At the Meet’ and ‘Huntsman and Hounds’, which were made over a number of years. This piece belongs to that series.

    Royal Worcester red fox figurine measures 8" tall by 4.5" wide by 3.5" deep and weighs 13oz.
