    Description

This is a wonderful 1/4 sheet tintype photograph of a little boy in a wild plaid jump suit.  He is in a wonderful gutta percha frame with a bas relief scene titled Roger de Coverly and the Gypsies on both sides.  It opens to maroon velvet on one side and the photo in a gilt frame on the other.  Behind the phot is a sheet of paper that says: The Design "Sir Roger de Coverly and the Gypsies" by Addison.  James Stils (or Stibs) Westfield, Mass and appears to be dated 1837 which is too early so perhaps it is 1857 or .....  The gutta perch case has 2 little flaws.  The tip of one of the corners on the back is broken and there is a knick in the lid at the edge where it closes.  Otherwise it is in great condition.  It measures 5" by 4" and is 1" deep when it is closed.
