    Description

This lot offers five tintypes and five Daguerreotypes from the 19th Century, all from the same estate, but names unknown.
The last frame provides a sense of size, with a tape running along the tops and bottoms of all the photos. The largest case measures about 3-1/4" x 3-3/4".
The framed examples are typical of Daguerreotypes in that the images present more distinctly when held somewhat obliquely.  The picture of the elderly lady in the ninth frame looks so clear that we wondered if the original owner had framed a tintype, but we have determined that in fact the likeness is on glass.
